Long-term volunteering opportunities:
Little Village READS: A new reading initiative that pairs students from grades 1st through 3rd with tutors to help them improve their reading skills. Tutors meet with students twice a week to do reading, literary activities, and interactive games. Interested members should contact Rachel Serra at 773-542-7617, email@example.com. Possible times are Mon, Tues. Wed. Thurs. 2:30-5:00
KEEN (Kids Enjoy Exercise Now): KEEN is a program held twice a month at UIC West Campus at UIC Sport an Fitness Center 828 South Wolcott Ave. The program's goals are to provide children who have mental and physical disabilities the opportunities to play and get exercise. KEEN pairs its volunteers up with a child and the volunteer and child do physical activities to help improve motor skills and social skills. The program is held on Sundays. Volunteering at the UIC Hospital and Health Systems: The UIC Hospital on West Campus provides volunteers with numerous opportunities to provide service to others while gaining experience in the health field. Presence Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center: Apply to volunteer at Presence Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center. Gain valuable health care experience while giving back to patients. The medical center is located at 2233 West Division Street Chicago, IL. Volunteers are asked to commit at least 100 hours.
